Information we collect

We collect your sign-in details (your email address and a password held securely by our authentication provider), profile information, and the financial records you type into the app.

BalanceIQ never connects to your bank and never asks for bank account numbers, card numbers, sort codes, IBANs, or online-banking credentials. Accounts and cards in the app are free-text labels you choose, and all amounts are entered by you manually. Card details used for purchases go directly to our payment provider and are never stored or seen by BalanceIQ.

How we use information

We use your information to provide the service and maintain your financial records (to perform our contract with you), to keep the service secure and prevent misuse (our legitimate interest), to meet legal, tax, and payment obligations (legal obligation), and, where you agree, to send optional communications (consent).

We may contact you by email with information relevant to your account and the product, such as service updates, security notices, changes to our terms, and news about BalanceIQ features and plans (our legitimate interest in keeping you informed, or your consent where the law requires it). You can opt out of non-essential product news at any time via the unsubscribe link in those emails; essential service and security messages cannot be opted out of while you hold an account.

Sharing

We share information only with the service providers needed to operate BalanceIQ, including hosting, authentication, payment processing, and transactional email providers. We do not sell personal information and we do not use advertising trackers.

International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where it is, we use appropriate safeguards required by applicable data protection law.

Retention and security

We keep account information while your account is active and for as long as legal, security, and payment obligations require afterwards. We protect information with access controls and encryption in transit.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal information, to receive a copy of it, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. You can correct your records directly in the app at any time. For access, deletion, or copy requests, contact us through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Children

BalanceIQ is intended for adults managing their own finances and is not directed at minors.

We use only essential cookies needed for sign-in and security.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time and will notify you in the app or by email when changes are material.
